Wellington Bomber Crash. 16 November 1942.

Were you a witness?

At 19.30 hours on 16 November 1942, six airmen of Bomber Command Royal Canadian Air Force died when their Wellington Bomber III  BJ894, crashed on Pitsea Marshes.

Were you resident in Benfleet at the time and did you witness the crash?  If so we would be grateful if you contact us with a view to arranging an interview about the tragic events that day.

Thank you.

  • The request, from Ronnie Pigram, for further information has resulted in a page being submitted by Joseph Aspler, the nephew of the navigator of the Wellington bomber.  We would like to thank Joseph for sharing his detailed research with the Benfleet Community Archive.
