Jubilee Stone Unveiled at Castle Point Council Offices

Diamond Jubilee 1952-2012 Commemorative Stone

A plaque commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year was unveiled at Castle Point Council Offices on Friday the 28th September, 2012.

The Jubilee Stone, which was crafted by local stonemasons Martin and Jay Rees, was unveiled by Castle Point Mayor, Cllr Peter Burch, in the presence of the Mayoress Valerie Burch, leader of the council Pam Challis, MP Rebecca Harris and Cllr Bill Dick.

The stone was dedicated by the Reverend David Tudor, as a lasting legacy to the Queen’s 60th anniversary on the throne, in a year that has seen many celebrations across Great Britain.

A new portrait of the Queen has been placed in the council chamber and in the future it is planned to plant a Jubilee Oak, from the Queen’s estate, within the grounds of the council offices.
