Benfleet is dead, long live Castlepoint!

Benfleet is far from dead, but you get the point. The merging of Benfleet and Canvey Councils came in April 1974. In retrospect it recognises that there is so much shared history….the Creek, the bridges,the yacht club, the houseboats and the barges.

On the back of this farewell edition of the council journal is an advert for forthcoming attractions at the Cliffs Pavilion. There’s such a wonderful mix….from Sooty to Rock “n” Roll, from wrestling to Max Bygraves. You can’t make it up…
