Middle row second from right is Paul Hurst.
I remember this trip very well, especially impressed with the huge wooden doors and Black Rod’s marks on them, and being allowed to sit on the leather benches in the chamber….(don’t recall where the government were). The names already listed are the ones I remember too, Annette Powell was my best friend. This was the last year in Primary school, I went on to Westcliff High for Girls and I remember John Barron went to Southend High. Can’t say I was very taken with Bernard Braine though.
I am a bit late coming to this page but can confirm that it was a trip to the Houses of Parliament in 1954 and that the lady on the right of the front row was Miss Stephens’ mother. The other adult lady in the picture was Mrs Powell, mother of Annette who is in the second row seventh from the right. Other names I can remember are from front row left, me, unknown girl, Christine —-, Ray Merrill, Stuart MacFadyn, Alan Lowther, Ronald Collins, Martin Boiling, unknown. Second row right to left Peter Charmly, Paul —-, Keneth Radford, behind them David Brearley, Michael Ponder, John Barron, unknown, Annette Powell, Judy Wallace, Sylvia Panter, lad in the cap, Stuart Gracie, slightly behind him Peter Beard.
Hope this helps.
Ed: Thank you Robin, very helpful.
Peter Charmley was the older brother of Brian Charmley and he still is.
Brian Charmley 15/11/13 (supposed to be working)
Hi Brian, Have got a photo of your brother Peter playing with me and my brother Ken in our garden in Rhoda Road North, Thundersley, by St Peters church yard.
Miss Stephen back row left, Robin Turner front row first left.
There was a Miss Gulley I believe, so the teacher in the photo could be her. Has anyone any class photos from 1955 to 1960 please?
Is Peter Charmly the brother of Brian Charmly who was in my class 1a at Thundersley Primary School?
The teacher on the far right could be Miss Galley, may not be the right spelling. The lad next to her is Peter Charmly.
