Temperatures struggled to get above freezing for most of December 2010, with frequent snow showers the weather affected everyone, police warned people not to travel, over a foot of snow fell on Benfleet in a couple of days.

‘South Essex today took another battering from the snow as more than eight inches fell in Southend, Basildon and Thurrock overnight.
Most schools across the county took the decision to shut as the snow and ice maintained its grip.
The A127 and A13 were relatively well moving during this morning’s rush-hour as motorists heeded police warnings to keep their distance and maintain a sensible speed’
