W Edward Wigfull the sailing correspondent was a fine artist as well as a wordsmith of note. An example of his literary skills can be found in the Literature category, but the accompanying image both in its content and execution shows what a fine artist he was.
William Edward Wigfull (1875 – 1944) was a cruising yachtsman with a fondness for the southern coast of Essex and the still waters of the swatchways therein. Wigfull was professionally an illustrator – both for newspapers and books and magazines. He worked regularly with prolific author Percy F. Westerman.
