Robert Gallon

A landscape and coastal artist, whose work spanned two centuries

Robert Gallon 1845 – 1925 was a London based artist who roamed far and wide to record the British landscape and was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and the Royal Society of British Artists.  He was particularly prolific in the thirty years between 1873 and 1903, which includes the date (1895) of the painting of Benfleet illustrated here.  If anyone knows of other Benfleet pictures by this artist or further biographical information on this artist,  please contact the Archive by email ( info@benfleethistory.org.uk )  or via South Benfleet Library.
