Memorial Plaques are made of bronze, 121 mm in diameter and often referred to as a Death Plaque, Dead Man’s Penny or Widows Penny. They were issued to the next-of-kin of service personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice between 4 August 1914 and 30 April 1920. The next-of-kin also received a Memorial Scroll and a letter from Buckingham Palace.
