CPDC Mayors Speech On Armed Forces Day 20th June 2016

A speech to the forces and in memory of Sapper Ellison

This is the speech given by Castle Point District Council Mayor, Cllr Steven Cole, on Armed Forces Day, Monday 20th June 2016. In it he honoured our Armed Forces and remembered Sapper Stanley Ellison.

Sapper Ellison died at Mons in 1914 and was the first casualty from Benfleet. The mayor is standing in front of a display of Sapper Ellison’s medals.

With the Mayor is the High Sheriff of Essex, Mrs Lorna J Rolfe JP, and three Sappers from the Royal Engineers.
