The 1956 picture, Benfleet Primary enquiry: There was a Marion Thomas, who had long fair hair, she’s still blond, and lives in Maylandsea. Her elder brother, David, married Christene Butler from Tarpots; they now live on Canvey. Marion and Christene have always kept in touch with me. If Marion is NOT in the photo perhaps its because she had not yet moved to Benfleet, Watlington Road.
David Cubberley, I don’t think is the missing name of the boy in the front row, not as I remember David.
The last reunion I held was September 2023 at my pub The Windjammer on Canvey. I vowed that was to be the final one of about fifteen over the years since I began in 1970s. Its been a wonderful journey for me, to be a hub, finding and joining together so many people from all over the world, who were part of our lives from our earliest schooldays, and to continue binding us altogether.
As I approach 80 I cannot avoid accepting that the 50 years old strong thread which bound us together, is disintegrating at a fast pace now. Each time I hear of another break, I am saddened deeply, especially as I hold in my heart and memory boxes, and now also in the cloud, all these hundreds of notes, messages, photos, letters, stories of love and loss, offsprings, divorces, failures, achievements, secrets etc. You have all been part of my life, some without realising it – and I thankyou ALL. So my friends, I say again, I will not be organising anymore reunions, but hope you still keep in contact with me, and I will always try to find an answer to any queries about anyone of our era you are trying to trace or contact; don’t hesitate. Bye for now…. Ann MORRISON Adams. 23rd March 2024.

What memories- thanks for sharing your photos Anne. Could number 13 of Anne Morissons class of 1956 picture be Jenny or Marylyn Thomas and could number 37 be Ian Cubberly?
I am delighted to come across this photograph. Although it was taken a year before I joined the Infants, there are photographs of Miss Treadway my very first teacher, who was lovely and Mrs Weirs who taught me to read, which was so memorable to me and it remains one of my greatest pleasures today. Thank you to them both.

My sister Sally Bennett is seated in the front row last girl on the right, beside the boys.
Thank you for your comments. Although some of those pictured are known to me through other connections, I had left when many of them were taken. Have a look at Article list/Schools/Miss Bass. A chance meeting I had with her in Rochford a couple of years ago provoked some memories!
I remember Elizabeth Spickett, we were for a while neighbours along the High Road, a sister as I recall, Margaret? and a boy Blyth, he went on to become one of Fleet Street’s printers.
After the death of Mr Spickett a local solicitor, Mrs Spickett returned or retired to Dawlish I believe.
Best wishes if any of you should read this.
