A 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

Edmund and May Stapleton

Newspaper article 1975

Now for a bit of nostalgia

I came across this cutting from a local newspaper from the year 1975.

It’s about my parents’ Golden Wedding Party and I thought it might be of interest to the archive.

It was held at the village hall on the High Road between Cemetery Corner and Hopes Green Parade. (I have a feeling that the hall is not there now!)

But I can tell you it was perfect in every way and we all had a grand time.

  • I remember with great affection this lovely couple. Their daughter Eileen is my aunt, she married my mum’s brother Ken Brown. We spent many fun times with lots of laughter all together. Shirley Wolfe 09/01/2016

  • So nice to read about your parents’ anniversary, Eileen.  They were a happy and good-natured couple who made many friends in the area. After moving down from London, they loved their life in Benfleet. It’s nice to see them remembered in this way. John.
